Let’s Play Pitch
Our spin on the 2018 World Cup, featuring a scores predictor app and endless kit illustrations.
We’ve been busy in the run up to this summer’s sporting showpiece. We’ve designed a nifty little app called Pitch.
The premise is simple: Pitch is a football scores predictor app, allowing you to forecast the results of games at this years World Cup in Russia. If you guess the correct result you win one point, and if you guess the correct score you win three points. This is all entered into a league table with every competitor vying for top spot at the end of the tournament.
We’re looking to celebrate the coming together of nations by getting super competitive and inviting you to take part too. So why not ruin a few friendships or join in with some colleague camaraderie with our brand-new World Cup predictor app.
Pitch is completely free to play, there are no sign-up fees or costs attached, and you won’t even have to visit the Android or Apple store to download it. Anyone can play Pitch, so why not stir up some healthy rivalry amongst mates, co-workers and family members… Even if footy isn’t your thing we’ll bet that winning is!
We really enjoyed working on this internal project and it certainly fed the design appetites of studio football lovers Stu and Oli.
‘Our goal was to create something fun, that looks great. Something that will create a bit of healthy competition amongst mates’, said Oli who was the inspiration behind the project. After completing a full UI kit and graphic styles for the app, the reigns were handed over to Sam and Erika who have developed the app using React – ideal for creating interactive and responsive UI’s.
Careful graphic attention was paid to creating all home and away kits for every nation as well as some caricatures of the World’s leading players including Messi, Ronaldo, Ramos and our very own Harry Kane. The app also features a custom font called ‘Pickles’ – designed by Oli and akin to the legendary Mexico 1970 branding but with a modern take on it.
