Thanks for Pitching…
You came, you pitched... we loved it!
It’s a little over a week now since the World Cup finished but we’d just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who played and took part in our experimental app – we loved adding something of our own to what was probably the best World Cup there has been in ages.
What started out as a bit of a casual idea between the boys in the office (‘Hey, do you know what would be fun to make?’) turned in to living breathing application that was beautifully designed and made – with everyone in the studio having input.
Firstly, a lot of the groundwork and initial thinking was produced by Oli to create a unique and playful brand for Pitch which featured a custom made font and vibrant UI graphics. This soon got Stu interested who together with Oli produced kit illustrations for all 32 teams, both home and away. This part was especially fun, trying to emulate some of the zany designs that Nike and Adidas brought to the table for the tournament.
We then used the expertise of Sam and Erika to develop a wireframe and UX so that app could really start coming to life. For Sam, it was about developing with some new coding languages that made the app incredibly flexible and user-friendly – special praise is due to him for pulling a few late ones to get it done in time!
The support from Susannah and Izzy was also invaluable, drumming up interest over social media with constant reminders to get people involved using our own World Cup stories and updates about who was predicting what.
This was a real team effort and one which brought a lot of happiness to the studio, proving that the tiniest of ideas and ambitions can sometimes lead to exciting ends.
And of course, well done to the winners! Sorry there’s no prize, but being the top of the pile isn’t bad eh?
Thanks again for playing! You can view the project in our work section here.
